Setting up your brand voice
Set up your brand voice, key messages and audiences in Fynch's Brand Studio so every draft sounds like your business, not generic AI.
Add your brand voice and key messages in the Brand Studio, and every draft you create in the Content Studio will use them. Without them, Fynch writes in a general tone. Fynch creates your first brand guidelines for you during setup, based on your website and recent social posts. You just review them and fine-tune anything that doesn't sound like you.
Open the Brand Studio
Select your profile icon in the top right, then select Brand Studio. You can also get there from the Content Grader by selecting Review Brand Guidelines. The Brand Studio has three tabs:
- Identity: Your brand guidelines, including voice, tone and key messaging.
- Audiences: Your user segments, or ideal customer profiles. Basically, who you're writing for.
- Voices: Writing voices for your company and for individual people on your team.
Review your brand guidelines
- In Identity, open Brand Guidelines and select Edit.
- Check the sections that matter most, and fix anything that's off:
- Voice & Tone: How you sound, in a sentence or two, plus a few personality words like
directorwarm. - Key Messaging: What you do, who it's for, and why it matters.
- Color Palette, Typography, Imagery Style, and more.
- Voice & Tone: How you sound, in a sentence or two, plus a few personality words like
- Save your changes.
Treat Fynch's version as a starting point. Correct anything that's out of date, like an old offer or tagline. A few clear sentences work better than a long style guide.
Add your audience
Open Audiences and describe the people you write for: who they are, what they care about, and what stops them from buying.
There are three ways to add one:
- Add it manually: Best if you already have your audience defined.
- Use the wizard: Answer three short questions, and Fynch builds the audience for you.
- Ask the AI: Use the chat panel on the right (orange robot icon in the bottom right) to describe your customers and have Fynch help you create one.
Add voices for different people
When you sign up, Fynch creates a default Corporate Brand Voice based on the tone and messaging on your website. You can add more voices for anyone who writes for your business, like a founder, a sales lead or a guest author.
- Open Voices and create a new voice.
- Share a sample of that person's writing, like a LinkedIn post or blog article, and Fynch builds the voice from it.
- Pick that voice when you start a draft in the Content Studio.
Tips
- Write it the way you talk. If your guidelines are full of buzzwords, your drafts will be too.
- Review them every few months, or whenever your offer or positioning changes.
